The Conejo Open Space Foundation provides financial, volunteer, educational and organizational support for the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) and the Conejo Open Space Trails Action Committee (COSTAC) programs and other activities. None of these activities would be possible without extensive support from volunteers. If you would like to help us, please visit our volunteer page and fill out the application form.
Here are some of the activities we support. In addition to these, there are a number of activities for volunteers. We provide training that is required for volunteers who would like to participate.
Conejo Open Space Challenge Held in the spring, the Challenge is for members of the public to explore ten trails or trail segments. The goal is to learn about more of the over 170 miles of trails in the Conejo Valley. Learn more…
Trails Education Days Every spring, Conejo Valley Unified School District 4th graders spend a day in the Open Space. The goal is to instill an appreciation for open space and to provide a sense of stewardship at an early age. Learn more…
Speaker Series Started in 2019, we host a series of local experts who inform and entertain us about different aspects of our open space. Topics include wildlife, geology, Hollywood filming and others! Learn more…
Trail Work COSCA has several major trail work days every year where new trails are constructed, or existing trails are restored to a like-new condition. Trail improvements include cutting back overgrowing brush, filling in ruts and removing obstructing rocks. Learn more…
Scholarship for Environmental Studies Beginning in 2021, we will be providing two Ventura County high school graduates who will be pursuing a degree in environmental studies with $1000 scholarships. These scholarships may be renewed for three more years. Learn more…
Introduction to Geocaching Hike Remove this section To celebrate National Trails Day (the first Saturday in June every year), COSTAC and COSF lead an “Introduction to Geocaching” hike as a way to show folks a fun but largely unknown recreational activity in our open spaces! Learn more…
