COSF Receives Nonprofit Awards Recognition
The Conejo Open Space Foundation was honored to be a finalist this year in State Senator Henry Stern’s Nonprofit of the Year Awards. Held July 27 via Zoom, the awards ceremony featured multiple nonprofit categories, including Climate, Environment, and Wildlife Protection, in which COSF was nominated.
COSF President Jerry Westby spoke to the assembled group, summarizing COSF’s most important activities, including the newly created college scholarship program and the positive difference it had made for the first two recipients. COSF Vice President Brendan Callahan, who oversees the scholarship program, also attended.
A sixth-generation Californian, Senator Stern represents the state’s 27th District, which has a population of nearly 1 million. The Nonprofit of the Year top honor went to the Hope of Valley Rescue Mission for its outreach to unhoused people in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.
