Congratulations to Bill Brenden of Agoura Hills who provided the correct answer and was selected at random as the winner. Thanks to all who entered the contest!

The Arroyo Conejo Trail is another one of the segments for this year’s Conejo Open Space Challenge and is located in the Arroyo Conejo Open Space.  It starts as a single track trail from the parking lot of the Rancho Conejo Playfields near the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Ventu Park Road. The trail joins a fire road that drops more steeply into the bottom of the canyon, then continues northwest to the Hill Canyon water treatment plant. The stream in the bottom of the canyon runs year-round and there are a number of crossings. Depending on the depth and presence of temporary bridges, the difficulty of crossing the stream can change through the seasons. The stream makes for a very verdant environment!

Immediately after the first stream crossing, the trail connects to Calle Yucca Trail, which climbs to connect to Lynnmere Trail in Wildwood Park and so links to all the trails there. These trails are shown towards the lower-left in the Wildwood Park trail map.

The Calla Yucca Trail is quite steep so it makes for a strenuous climb, and it’s not much fun for mountain bikers.
